John Lasseter

John Lasseter:

The chief art director at PIXAR. Now Lasseter is not one of the founders of the original PIXAR company but is regarded as one of the largest game changers for them. PIXAR started off as a company trying to mix technology and art by hiring scientist involved with 3d rendering. After a few years the company realized they needed artists not just scientist to make use of this new medium. John Lasseter was thier man using the techniques he learned from CALarts he was able to give life to these polygons. He is inspiring not just because hes made amazing films like Toy Story but because he was one of the first 2d artists not afraid of 3d graphics. Very few animators at that time refused to involve 3d in thier animations due to the fact that many believed that the computer would take away jobs and be the destruction of the animator. Lasseter instead saw this as a new possability for animators and knew that it was not to replace animators but just a new medium for them. Like everyone knows that work payed off and resulted in the only studio to have every film reach the top of the box office and seems not to be slowing down.

Jim Lee

                 Jim Lee:
Originally a marvel artist for works like The Punisher, Jim Lee moved his way up at Marvel from just an artist but to a story writer where he worked on titles like Xmen. Eventually he was snatched by Image and Dark Horse at a time for a few free lances but his true work began when DC finally got their claws into him.
At the time DC was hitting a minor wall where they weren't as main stream as Marvel and were in need of new blood to revamp their "Universe". They hired Jim Lee and put him on for a new Batman which followed its own series. Jim Lee not only changed the feel of Batman but created almost a whole new genre for him. Batman then became a gritty, bloody and dark story with amazing art. This "Hush" series turned into a snowball effect for Batman and we ended up with movies like Dark Knight to where Batman is now the super hero for the USA.
Currently Jim Lee still does a few Batmans here and there but his main work is the DC Universe Online where he works on cut-scenes and verifies if each rendered character is "Lee Certified".

Saul Bass

    Saul Bass:

While not the most current artist his designs are what made the change from 20th century Graphic Design or such a large and great step forward. Bass is known for his logo designs for major firms such as girl scouts of america, United Way of America, Rockwell International and Frontier Airlines all remarkable designs that are regarded not just before their time but actually set the tone for the next generation of Graphic Designers.

The reason why it he is said to be the changing point for the 20th century is the simplistic and smooth designs created by all his works. Not only having those elements make a Saul Bass logo though the ability to create such a great image but being able to tell what the corporation represents.
