Bay Raitt:
One of the most famous 3D rendering artist of our time. He became most well know for being the lead facial/character designer in all of the Lord of the Rings movies and was the lead designer for the Half Life games both which were ground breaking for their time.
While having an impressive portfolio is important the reason why I believe Bay Raitt is more of a well known name amongst artist is how he treats his fans. While Raitt doesn't personally have an online portfolio or site he is an avid forum and vimeo poster. He uses the forums to talk to his fans and not just shares his secrets on how he models but answers and teaches those who willing to ask. On vimeo he has shown his new models and patches for video games though just recently he has started create videos that show from start to finish on how he makes his models.
Bay Raitt started out as a fan boy hero because of what he made and is now a CG idol thanks to his presence both on and offline.
