John Lasseter

John Lasseter:

The chief art director at PIXAR. Now Lasseter is not one of the founders of the original PIXAR company but is regarded as one of the largest game changers for them. PIXAR started off as a company trying to mix technology and art by hiring scientist involved with 3d rendering. After a few years the company realized they needed artists not just scientist to make use of this new medium. John Lasseter was thier man using the techniques he learned from CALarts he was able to give life to these polygons. He is inspiring not just because hes made amazing films like Toy Story but because he was one of the first 2d artists not afraid of 3d graphics. Very few animators at that time refused to involve 3d in thier animations due to the fact that many believed that the computer would take away jobs and be the destruction of the animator. Lasseter instead saw this as a new possability for animators and knew that it was not to replace animators but just a new medium for them. Like everyone knows that work payed off and resulted in the only studio to have every film reach the top of the box office and seems not to be slowing down.
